Background & Industry Involvement
Roy joined the financial industry after being inspired by an article in Barron’s magazine that highlighted the importance and benefits of working in the financial services sector. He had an economics degree from the University of North Carolina and, at the time, was conducting economic forecasting for a gas utility company. Prior to his role with the utility company, he was a captain in the U.S. Air Force for six years. After reading that article in 1981, he decided to pursue a career as an advisor, and he’s never looked back.
Throughout his career, Roy has earned several recognitions for his work. He was named one of Barron’s Top 1000 Financial Advisors in 2011, 2012, and 2013; recognized as one of Barron’s Top 1200 Financial Advisors in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020; and was a Forbes/SHOOK Best-in-State Wealth Advisor in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. He earned his MBA from the University of Utah and is a Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM.
Roy and his wife Louise married in 1974, and they have two adult sons, David and Matthew. In his free time, Roy loves to spend time with his two grandkids (David’s daughters), travel, and play golf or pickleball. He and his wife live in Little Rock, Arkansas.
